# Resume each artifact, publish the set

A local speech set becomes ready only after each artifact survives its own resumable transfer and the stage matches the exact manifest.

A multi-file download needs two levels of proof. Each artifact must arrive intact, then the staged set must match its manifest exactly.

Our Muniment Desktop evidence applies that rule to a local speech set. The acquisition path treats partial progress as file-specific evidence, never as whole-set readiness.

## Each artifact owns its progress

The pinned set holds two artifacts: a 92,361,271-byte model and a 28,214,398-byte voice bundle.

Each artifact resumes independently. A partial model can continue from its own byte offset while the voice bundle starts or resumes from another offset.

That separation matters when one transfer fails after the other finishes. The completed artifact does not lose its verified work because its peer needs another attempt.

Range behavior receives focused tests. The suite also covers malformed responses, short responses, cancellation, retry backoff, aggregate progress, and one shared deadline.

Resume support does not make received bytes trustworthy. Each file passes its own checksum verification before it enters the stage.

| Artifact | Pinned size | Acquisition rule |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Speech model | 92,361,271 bytes | Resume and verify independently |
| Voice bundle | 28,214,398 bytes | Resume and verify independently |

## Readiness belongs to the manifest

Two valid files can still sit inside an invalid stage. Readiness therefore checks the whole directory against the exact manifest.

The check rejects four mismatches:

1. A missing manifest file leaves the set incomplete.
2. An extra entry makes the staged set different from the pinned set.
3. A directory cannot stand in for a required regular file.
4. A symbolic link cannot stand in for a required regular file.

The symbolic-link rule closes a subtle gap. A link may resolve to bytes with the expected name, but the stage still contains the wrong entry type.

Tests exercise hostile stage entries alongside checksums and transfer failures. Readiness becomes true only when every expected regular file exists and no unexpected entry remains.

## Acquisition evidence stops at the stage

This evidence proves resumable acquisition, per-file verification, and exact-set readiness under the tested cases.

It does not prove durable installation or inference correctness. It does not prove audio quality or target-device performance.

The evidence comes from our Muniment Desktop note pinned to commit `fb70fb5ffa2e7aaeb72a030420cccc129d82b666`.

A progress total can describe motion. Only verified files inside an exact manifest can describe a ready acquisition set.
