# Install muniment on macOS

Download the desktop app and use your own models and tools. The local app needs no muniment account.

## Requirements

macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon or Intel.

## Install

Download the disk image for [Apple silicon](https://github.com/munimentai/muniment/releases/download/v0.0.2/muniment-0.0.2-macos-arm64.dmg) or [Intel](https://github.com/munimentai/muniment/releases/download/v0.0.2/muniment-0.0.2-macos-x64.dmg). About This Mac shows your chip. [Universal](https://github.com/munimentai/muniment/releases/download/v0.0.2/muniment-0.0.2-macos.dmg) runs on both and is larger. All three require macOS 13 or later.

1. Open the downloaded disk image (.dmg).
2. Drag muniment to the Applications shortcut.
3. Eject the disk image and open muniment from Applications.

Managed deployments can use the [universal PKG installer](https://github.com/munimentai/muniment/releases/download/v0.0.2/muniment-0.0.2-macos.pkg). It requires administrator approval. A DMG install may also need approval if your Mac restricts writes to Applications.

Each download uses Developer ID signing and Apple notarization. Keep Gatekeeper enabled. If macOS reports an invalid signature, stop and download a fresh copy from the release page.

## First launch

Choose a workspace folder and connect a model provider in Settings → Models & routing. You do not need a muniment account.

Allow microphone access only if you want voice input. Provider usage follows your provider account.

## Updates and removal

Quit muniment before replacing the app with the newer app. Your workspace and app data remain separate from the app bundle.

To remove the app, quit it and move muniment from Applications to Trash. This leaves your files and local app data intact.

The official Homebrew cask is not available yet. Use the disk image above until the official catalog includes muniment.
